RIP Lucky

I met Lucky and Buddy about a month ago at Art Walk in DTLA. I saw them on the street with their owner, Marvin and asked him if I could take their photo. They were adorable, two little white fluffy mammals. A week or so later I got a message from Marvin asking if I could watch them for a few days while him and his wife, Dominique go on a little Mexico vacation. Hell yes, I would-it was love at first sight for me, I hope for them too :) After five days of non-stop fun with Lucky and Buddy I was sad to give them back to their parents, but that is just apart of this doggy dog job! A couple weeks after their visit I got a text from Marvin, asking if I could do a Pawtrait session for the two little boys in the next couple days, again, hell yes I would. The reason the photos had to be taken in the next couple days was that Lucky the more shy, reserved, super skinny baby was sick, fatally sick. Lucky had tumors in his body that were cancerous, that could not be removed and were effecting his health and organs severely :( Lucky only had a few more days to live until he had to be put to asleep, so that he wouldn't suffer anymore and endure more pain that comes with his sickness. Talk about tragic :(

We had a great time taking their photos, although we knew that this would be his last. Like dogs, we tried to live in the moment and not dwell on the past or get caught up in emotions.

Saying goodbye to your pet is never ever easy. Probably one of the hardest things us humans may ever have to do in our lives. Time heals everything, I think. We can remember the good times and know that our little babies are always with us in spirit :)

I love you Lucky! xo
